Pompous rock deities Violent Knight begin regimen of barbiturates, change band name in effort to portray their soothing new outlook on life

May 17, 2005 (Albany, NY) – Rock band Violent Knight announced this week that the band has officially changed their name to “b.o.x.”. According to lead vocalist Rick Goodwin, the original name, Violent Knight, caused the band untold marketing miseries. “The name created a misconceived image, leading people to believe we are extremely heavy”, Rick said, “it made getting our music into the right hands very difficult”. The band hopes the new moniker will reduce their promotional distress by helping to more accurately conveying the band’s Modern Rock genre. The new name comes complete with a new web site, which can be found at www.ilikeboxcom. As for the meaning of the acronym b.o.x.; it remains a deep dark mystery.

b.o.x. will be launching their new name Saturday May 28th at Saratoga Winners. All in attendance will receive a free copy of the bands latest release, entitled “II”.

b.o.x. was formed as Violent Knight in late 1998 by three brothers; Rick (drums, vocals), George (guitar), and Steve Goodwin (bass). Drummer Bob Wicks joined the brothers in mid 1999 to complete the line up and perform live shows. The original rock powerhouse from upstate New York crafts muscular Modern Rock songs in the genus of STP, Collective Soul, Fuel and Cold. Their distinctive sound is a distillate of gritty organic vocals, potent guitar riffs and tasteful heart-felt soloing, propelled by brooding anguished lyrics and fortified by an imaginative and brawny rhythm section.  The band has released two self-produced albums (Blodren Records®/The Orchard®) to date, with a third release slated for summer 2005. Their music is distributed world-wide by The Orchard® with retail availability at on-line stores cdnow.com, amazon.com, eMusic, and MusicNow.com, as well as Wal-Mart, FYE, and Starbucks.
